I am doing the 30 day free trial. So far, it seems to be writers I've never heard of plus some early works from established authors.

That said, I am reading my first mystery and struggling to stay interested.

I doubt that I will keep the Unlimited past the trial.

I do however have great luck with the daily deals.

I've enjoyed the works of successful writers in other countries for a couple of dollars each.

I think I read somewhere that the major publishers are not on board yet. I think I may hold off until there are more mainstream books included.

I am now a devoted library user. Do you have access to a public library that offers Kindle books to lend? I'm finding the selection to be pretty good overall.

I use book hub from Amazon. Like others I have enough books on my kindle to last me a couple of years. No seriously.

Bookbub.com is also worth checking. Their books are mostly heavily discounted, rather than free, but they usually offer at least a couple of free books each day.

I have a huge selection of free books too. Also, I track books I want through http://www.ereaderiq.com/ and get notified when they go on sale. I've gotten good deals- and some books on my wishlist for free or .99.

I second checking out your local library. I'm having a blast reading all sorts of mystery thrillers from big-name authors (Kellerman, Cornwell, Cussler, etc) via my library's e-book collection.

I also take advantage of the one free book rental/mo as a member of amazon prime.

I'm reluctant to spend $10/mo with amazon for access to a limited number of books. Granted 600,000 is a very large number but since they actually have in the millions of titles available for kindle, that 600K seems pretty small for the money they want.

I'm done here; sick of 2 x 4s

I was going to sign up for the Kindle Unlimited but they I couldn't find any of the books that I wanted to read as being available. I hope they make it truly unlimited soon. :)

Ditto. I love it when I get the email that my favorite author has books on sale.

And I watch the Kindle daily deals, and also the monthly deals. If you have Amazon prime you can borrow one book a month, and also get a pre-release book for free once a month. For the prerelease you have to choose from five that they present to you.

Those books, along with my library cards, and the free books I've collected over the years, Are plenty to keep reading for a couple of lifetimes.

I'd rather put the $10 toward books that I can keep, rather then towards Kindle unlimited. This month I bought Not Just Friends.

I love kindle unlimited. I have all the free reading sites. I don't mind the 10 dollars it saves me money. I use my kindle and use good reads to track what I borrowed and how I liked it. If I want to reread it I can look on there. I also have good reads set up with a ton of bookshelves and since I can put things on multiple shelves I have things like fix it, borrowed, mystery, historical romance, western, serial killer, borrowed. I then put my borrowed books on the type bookshelf of borrowed and then the type of book it was. Yesterday, I was really sick and read a series of books by a little known author. I would have spend over 10 bucks on them. Actually there were 4 books and they were 3.99 each. I also read about a book a day.
