I'm just shaking, in a more visceral way than I did with Sandy Hook.
Maybe it's because my first grandchild is due in a month.
It has to stop. Why won't lawmakers do anything?? (that's a rhetorical question).
14 dead, some children. More hospitalized where the death rate could go up.
It has to stop.

It is so sad .
A "perfect marriage" is just two imperfect people who refuse to give up on each other.

Reports say 14 children dead plus one teacher. And the shooter is deceased. 18 year old high school student is the shooter. Just like Buffalo.
I just cannot imagine being a parent, waiting outside to see if my child is one of the victims. Horrible.

Number is up to 18 children and two adults murdered. And the first incident was he murdered his grandmother prior to the school shooting.
I can't imagine being a school teacher or support staff anywhere right now.
Is there ANY place safe these days?

And it's not just the children/adults who were killed; it's the others who were injured and taken to hospitals.
But we must not overlook the HUNDREDS of children who were in that school as witnesses! They will suffer from PTSD for the rest of their lives.
My nephews were attending one of the schools in CT where students from Sandy Hook were transferred after Sandy Hook to finish the school year, and the following school year. I know how traumatized they were from just interacting with those students who had been at Sandy Hook. So imagine the collateral damage from today.

The adults too. My nephew in law was stationed in Ft. Hood and should have been at work in the motor pool the day of that shooting. All of his coworkers, including his best friend, died. He had to take a medical discharge (had planned on being career Army) due to PTSD and survivor guilt.

I have very young children - i saw headlines but it took me at least 24 hours to bring myself to read an article about it because its just so awful. I am tearing up now just thinking about it.
The US is the only place where this sort of thing happens regularly. Its not surprising when you consider the prevalence of guns. An 18 year old can (and did!) legally purchase an assault rifle but that same teenager cannot purchase a beer.
Why won't lawmakers do anything??
Money. Oh, and because citizens don't demand it.

19 precious children dead and two teachers. And his grandmother is in bad shape in the hospital. Such a tragedy. When will it stop?? Two more arrests of high school students in Texas today as high-powered guns were found in their car.

I was so traumatized by this horrific incident that I was unable to reply before.
But after seeing the testimony of that little girl who smeared her friend's blood on her and played dead in order to save herself. What a quick thinker and how sad that she even needed to think of this.
((((HF)))) I'm so very sorry, this must have been so traumatizing for DS. I hope he does not suffer from survivor guilt and ptsd.....
