Around here people pay good money for snake and critter removal!!

Dragn, I think of you ever time I see a snake. I am trying to overcome my fear but seeing them in the garage creeps me out. I'm also not a fan of them appearing on a path when I'm out walking.

Dragn, if you were here you could look for it while I'm WAY outside under a big oak shade tree. smile

We are definitely used to critters. I have critters on the south end of my porch because I keep a big water bowl out there. Raccoons are really common and I'm not afraid of them. One year they were so plentiful they would come up to me outside and also bring their babies. I never try to tame anything because I believe in letting nature -- be nature. Except for snakes, I guess.

I have lots of deer that I love to watch but would never try to tame them. But snakes. Devils! If they would grow some feet and WALK instead of SLITHERING around, I might could tolerate them more. I guess I inherited my hatred for snakes from my Mom. She would kill them in a heartbeat. I RUN from them. Mom used to live behind me in a tiny house and she kept post-hole diggers on her front porch. She had a Jack Russell Terrier that LOVED to hunt snakes - so it's like the dog would find them and my Mom would kill them with the post hole diggers. She said it was the best tool because while smashing them, she was also digging their burial place at the same time. My sister is the same way - hates snakes and will kill them. I guess I'm a coward as I just almost have a heart attack and I run. We have Copperheads, Rattlesnakes and water moccasins - all venomous and potentially deadly - and then the 'good snakes' but I don't get close enough to identify them.

Zebra, did you scream like a GIRL when you saw the snake? smile I sure did!

I recently read that with our new influx of ROAD RUNNERS, they will balance out the snake population as they eat them. I have Road Runners on my property. Maybe snakes are trying to hide from them.

Snakes don't bother me for the most part, however every time 9 see one I do catch my breath and give the startled whoop.
Last summer I had a rat snake hanging out in coop. I knew I had one because egg production had dropped way off. So I went down one day mid morning there he was in a nesting box with 6 countable eggs in him. I chased him out with a shovel. Then he lay all stretched out in the chicken yard, the girls knew him clearly they were not interested and ignored him. Now because my coop is against my basement wall and not far from a door I decided he needed to be chased off. I threw chicken food at him. He didn't care. I tossed a few small rocks at him, he didn't care. I turned the hose on him and that finally motivated him to move out of the chicken yard and into the woods. He was at least 6 feet.

Again id much rather have one of those than mice, just due to the destructive nature of mice. I did have one incident when my daughter was about 14 and she nearly laid a hand on a copperhead in our garage. That one met his maker that day. Whenever you have one copperhead there is always more. His partner met her maker a few days later when she was curled up under the trash bin.
My black lab almost picked up a snake thinking it was a stick when she was about 3. Since then she stays away. My chocolate boy has not had any direct interaction with one and I fear the day he does, because he's a typical lab and he believes all creature want to be his friend.

I've only ever dealt with one species of venomous snake, the hog nose and those guys are to funny not to enjoy.

They are the actors of the reptile world. When upset or startled they play dead....but do it in the most dramatic way possible.

A news report from a town not far from us was about how a person bought grapes only to find a black widow spider in them. DD then says she's never eating grapes again...man I would have moved said spider to a terrarium lol.

So our bulldog doesn't like thunderstorms. She climbed onto my lap and hid her head in my armpit. rolleyes

No one had the numbers for the power ball lottery last night so it's now up to $790 million for Wednesday's drawing. Can you IMAGINE winning that?

I realize that lotteries get taxed down there but ya I couldn't handle that much money. Our lotto Max jackpot is 30 million and I'd be nervous with that. I'd have everyone coming out of the woodwork for money and I have extended family that are greedy bottom feeders who would be a non stop pain!

At least I'd have bail money if anyone came after my kids. There'd be no mercy from me!

It's RAINING today and the temps are low 80's. I actually took my puppies outside and we stood in the rain! The heat has been almost unbearable, so this is a RELIEF.

My dog ate 4 pounds of uncooked rice.

I am exhausted. Night two of diarrhea! it feels like every 30 minutes.

I get mean when I am this tired. Particularly when sh3 is having a good time and it’s the 5 th time taking her out in the night.

Is your dog a Lab? That sounds like something mine would do.
I have one that eats everything she isn't supposed to, I even keep a bottle of peroxide and a turkey baster for such emergencies under the kitchen sink. She knows exactly what it is too, when she sees it she smiles and does her I'm sorry act.

4 pounds of rice is going to make mountains of poo. Sorry you are dealing with it.

I thought that much rice would cause constipation.

Our bulldog is on the same food, same treats and filtered water that she's always been on and yet last night when we took her for a walk it was like a soft serve icecream machine coming out of her backside. Ewe!

Then she will have a normal solid poop. Not sure what causes the loose stuff. She doesn't get human food and we have thibgs locked up good so she can't get into anything. Even the cat is fed up on a side table so her good isn't accessible. (Had to start doing that when Bella the pig was inside).

Well... one week into our school year and DD has already forgotten to take her meds and sent in an incomplete math HW page.

How is it that kids need to be reminded to shower, brush teeth, comb hair, take daily (ADHD) meds? When do I have to stop reminding them to BREATHE?

Sigh. Good luck everyone with the school year starting!

Tushnurse oh yah, she is a lab mix rescue. She lived on the streets for 5 months , I think that is where she got an iron gut that I can’t believe.

It took 4 days for the rice to work itself out. She looked like she ate a turkey. They gave me pills for her for 10 days, so I guess it was serious enough.

Her husky sister didn’t miss a beat, and pooped out all her rice in 2 days.

I am still finding rice in my kitchen even the air vents.

Our Coonhound has a gluten intolerance. We know this as she gets sick and runny with any bread. She like most coonhounds is smart, driven, stubborn, and has long legs. We know that often if we run through as we have evening plans, she's going to be pissed that she wasn't invited along. whatever is on the counter is a prime target for her revenge. More often than not it's going to be the extra loaf of bread that doesn't fit in the breadbox.

A great place to store bread is the microwave, I learned this trick when my Dane ate many loaves over the years. She could stand onher back legs and reach the top edge of the fridge, so couldn't do that.

I know my older lab has eaten soooo many things that should have made her very ill, but nothing ever did. Sometimes a little loose stool but that is it. Whole pans of chocolate brownies, 2 dozen raw eggs, raw 2inch hand cut pork chops, on and on.
