Dog, dog.....dog?
Multiple dog parents, please tell me if it's very different having 2 dogs or 3.
Currently we have two large dogs, one senior greyhound and one 3-4 year old hound mix. They are both very good, calm dogs.
I made the mistake of visiting the rescue on Monday 'just to look' and there is a hound mix, very similar to our houndy guy, and he is so scared and slightly beaten up. It looks like he's had a rough time of it. I want to take him home. I took our guy there today to meet him and they did great.
We have a fenced-in yard. Our current hound tries to play with the senior greyhound but she doesn't have it in her.
Tell me pros and cons, please, of having 3 large dogs. I'm afraid of rocking the boat, my guys are really so good.
But there are so many in cages, how do I leave this guy there?

Early Summer NY g2g
Just putting it out there if there's any interest in an early summer g2g, we're thinking the weekend of 6/23-6/25.
We could plan for activities the whole weekend, probably Saturday an all-day shindig at our home.
We'd leave the whole weekend open for people to come and go as they are able.
We are in Orange County, NY, not far from West Point, about an hour north of NYC.
Open to suggestions, there are hotels nearby and we have a great outside space and plenty of room to entertain.
If there's interest, we'll start the planning.
After the rough start to the year, LD and I would love to connect with our SI family face to face.
Let me know!

Homeland, does anybody watch?
And are you as confused as I am this season?
I have to admit that I'm usually on here while watching, and you really can't multitask while watching that show. But still, so much going on and I'm so confused!

Baseball!!!
It's been awhile since our team has been in first place in August. This is very exciting!!! They're in it!
I'm enjoying it, plus enjoying how happy my H is getting caught up in it after many years of disappointment.
Let's go Mets!!!

Hope
I'm reading the book about Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus's kidnapping by Ariel Castro. The third woman, Michelle Knight, chose not to take part in writing the book.
What a sad, amazing story of survival. It's gripping. Has anyone read it?

Judy Blume
She was my absolute favorite author growing up. I read her novel for adults, Summer Sisters years ago.
I just finished her new adult novel, In the Unlikely Event. I was so thrilled to have a new one by her to read.
Anyone else read it?

Happy Passover to all who observe
When you're Jewish, it seems that people always ask what the holidays represent. One time I told someone that it's pretty much the same for every holiday, "They tried to kill us, we won, let's eat!"
Basically sums it up .
Freedom from oppression, baby!

cat people
Are you ever sitting down for awhile and you have a cat in your lap and some time passes and then you look down and it's a different cat in your lap and you're thinking when did that happen?
I don't even know what it's like to be sitting without a cat in my lap! I even apologize to them if I have to get up and disturb them. Does anybody else do that? I'll be like, "Sorry kitty, Mommy has to go pee."

ptgd aka post traumatic glitter disorder
We haven't participated in the card exchange the past few years (too hard to explain to the kids where all the cards/glitter are coming from), but we do have some special friends who are kind enough to still send us cards.
Every time we get a card with a little 'crunch', a feeing of trepidation comes upon us. We shake it, we slowly walk to an area of the house that isn't heavily trafficked. We tentatively open the envelope...
We just got a card from a former co-worker. There was crunch. LD looked at me wide eyed. I asked, 'Who's it from, what's the envelope say?' He told me the name and I said, 'Ohhhh, H from work, it's safe!'
None of us will ever be the same! There must be a support group for this somewhere .

Holy crap! What a great show.
My stomach is in knots and I'm a mess from the stress, but I love it!
