No cards here yet. Who is the other mom American in the group?

I know it usually takes a while to make its way up here. Hoping they weren't stopped at the border for leaking glitter lol

More of those R-rated escapees caught my eye today. I looked down at my boots to put them on today, there was a bit of sparkle inside, so I looked closer. Another of those like on the rug in one and an additional clue to what is inside the infamous envelope in the other.

Plus a few more of them added glitter to my mailbox today (the usual kind of glitter).

Chili gots some things in the mail today.

And I got a Chili in my mail today!

I think it's Hedwig maybe? I seem to remember her extra-checking her mailbox like me.

And I got a Chili in my mail today!

Woot! I never realized my username would fashion itself into a return sticker someday.

I slowly opened a few and y'all are so festive and silly and kind and glitter nutty. The Chili dog is walking around here just a'shimmering and sparkling. (His fault for being so nosy.)

I'm waiting for everyone to receive their cards, but I can't wait to talk about all the cool things in this year's crop. Every single card is special. Thanks heaps and gobs everyone.

Cards made it to Kansas this week. Thank you to everyone! Each of them is special to me.

I'm opening a few of them each day - I'm figuring out my glitter containment system as I go . No, I didn't include glitter in mine, but I did include something . There was glitter in my mailbox and a trail of glitter into the house, so I plan to avoid my regular mail carrier for a while in case there were any from the specially marked envelope that were left in her truck or on neighbor's mail .

Did NOT know what I was opening when I got BSR’s 🤣🤣. Glitter everywhere!! Thank you, it made me laugh.

They are slowly trickling in, think the mail lady is NOT happy with me 🤪

Glad to see mine made it in Tred’s picture

I, too, have clear ornaments with the dates on them. Makes me smile.

Hoping you all have a wonderful and blessed Christmas 🎄

It never occurred to me that the shape of what's in the envelope might be misleading. The contents are child safe, I promise!

My original concept was a pop-up card. I had the idea for months, but then my dad died this fall, my mother was very ill, there were a thousand other things going on, and when I saw the number of participants, I knew that carefully crafted, exacto-cut popups were not going to happen.

I'm a stubborn cuss, though, and I hate abandoning a plan. I started thinking that with all these free stamps available, I could just buy the actual items and mail them, instead of making a pop-up representation of them. That went great right up until the moment I had to ship the box to the North Pole and discovered the rate for a package that size. So this is a one-off -- back to flat cards next year!

Hedwig and Dragn, if the US recipients thought their envelopes had a lot of stamps, just wait until yours arrive. I *think* I left enough room on the front for a small label.

Haven't opened the cards from here as yet, but have a head start on my glitter collection. I opened the gifts sent to me by friends and family earlier. One box contained a Christmas card with a bit of glitter that was more of a hopeful sign with spring shapes of flowers and butterflies. Made me laugh to find them spilling out unexpectedly.

One year I was far away when the cards would arrive, so I was unable to participate, no matter how much I wanted to join in. Happily, (for me but not for the SI member) a member hadn't received any cards a while after everyone else had and a call went out to help give them cheer. I saw a chance to take part from afar and was granted their address to send a card.

I told my hosts about the glitter tradition for friends in a group I belong to (a little white lie without the SI connection) and they helped me fill a card thick with sparkly cheer. I took it to the PO and was told I either needed to do a Customs Declaration or write on the card what was inside to make it so thick and heavy.

The line was long and I would have needed to go write out the Declaration and rejoin that line, so I took the quicker, easier option of writing on it as I had a ride waiting. The minute I left the PO and ever since, I have second guessed the decision. How hilarious would it be to receive a heavy card from across the world with a Customs Declaration stating "Glitter" as the contents?

The sender of my Spring glitter knows my hosts of that Christmas, so I wonder if maybe they got a hint from them......?

I look forward to opening all of your cards. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone.

I waited until now to open the cards. A little gift for myself. 😊

Who knew glitter had so many adjectives? Crunchy, sparkly, sticky, snowflake-y, jingly and pornographic (Ellie, that ornament is for sure gracing my tree from here on out!) 🤣 The cards, the ornaments and the kind wishes and words culminated in some of the best moments of my holiday. And BSR and TS, love love the sentiment of the nutcracker, thank you!

SI friends, thanks for the glitter and kindness sent in each of your cards and a massive thank you to the elves who make it possible!

I finally got one, on Christmas Eve, which was BSR's. Envelope was slightly torn, so I suspect the folks at USPS got a bit of sparkly joy. Also, that is truly an impressive collection of stamps! Much love and thanks.

At this pace of card-receiving, I may be getting glitter all the way to valentine's!

Yesss, I am so happy! I was bummed I hadn't received anything yet but today I came home from my parents and found a bunch of letters in my mailbox! Spent the afternoon opening them up and drinking beer.

It started real clean and organized, took some tips from you guys with the gloves and paper and brush. But then Ellie's card happened and now I'll be finding glitter all the way to next years cards!

I absolutely love it!

Took your cue and emptied one of my clear ornaments, put all the glitter in and now I'll have an SI ornament for each year, starting now

I've only got 12 so far so I'm expecting more of them, aah, so much joy!

Edit: I've put them up. Don't mind the envelopes behind them, I just love that I've got so many envelopes with USA stamps on them! Never had any mail from the US before.

Never mind, the image thingy said nope.

Found a bunch of envelopes in my mailbox. In the midst of working in healthcare during a pandemic, I never saw any update on the card exchange and thought maybe it was cancelled. So here I sit having guilt over the cards that showed up in my mailbox on an event I was excited to participate in and managed to fail. I’m so sorry for letting everyone down. I would love to make up for this somehow. I can’t even open the cards because I feel awful about it.

I also had a lap full of glitter when I got the cards out of my mailbox. I LOVE glittery things.

Sorry everyone.

Open and enjoy, 4everdeastated! No guilt about it. This year's events have been hard on everyone, so we take our joy wherever we find it and I'm glad to have sent some your way! (Capture that glitter as a reminder.)

Next year will hopefully be easier for everyone to keep track. I know I was about two months behind in my thinking on some events and shocked to realize it.
