Oh yeah!!! Im so excited for you! And your son and the whole family.

If its not too personal, why did baby have to be separated from Mom for 24 hrs? Thats a tough one. I hope they are both doing ok! My first csection was tough. Not sure if its bc it was tge first time id ever had one (or really surgery for that matter, unless you count wisdom teeth!) or if it was bc it was after 22hrs of labor. Either way, my csection at 26 was WAY harder than the one at 41. I know you know to take care of mama, and remind your son to be super gentle with her. I felt so low that I couldnt have birth "the real way" back then. (At 41 i didnt care. It was just a surprise at 26)

Sooooo happy for you, Tush Nurse!!! grin

Gotta:
The baby was not able to clear the amniotic fluid as quick as they normally do, heart rate, and sats would drop if not stimulated.
He also had an elevated white blood cell count, so they weren't sure if he had an underlying infection to go along w/ not clearing the fluid. Most CSection babies clear it in an hour or two. Took him close to 8.
He is going home today.

He is adorable. She couldn't come along because the hospital he went to is a Childrens ONLY hospital, now there is a GIANT top rated adult hospital on the campus, but they got her discharged the next day by noon.

My son has not left he NICU for more than a few minutes the entire time. The NICU rooms are individual rooms like an ICU, and there's a couch/bed for parents, and a rocker recliner. They also have a shower available for parents to use too.

It's pretty damn amazing the set up and the work they do. I will be writing a letter.

He is a pretty cute little guy. I can't wait for them to all get settled in at home and start having a routine. They only live about 20 minutes from us, so it's easy for us to just run down, and not be all up in their business all the time.

Thank you to all for the Congrats, it's pretty wonderful.

You know, sometimes we get all caught up in the exhilaration of a new baby that we forget all that is involved.

Thank God your grandson is OK and has joined his mom and dad.

So happy to share this new experience with my virtual friends! It is truly wonderful. I live for the days I get to see my baby granddaughter. I'd forgotten that 9 month old babies are the most entertaining people on the Earth!

Sending LIGHT and healing to mom.

Jeanie- I am happy to report that they are doing really well. He is a very good baby this far.
He has dark eyes, and dark downy hair.
He is adorable. I am dying to spend some more time with them, but also trying to give them so quiet time and bonding time.
I will probably go down tomorrow after work.

Just a quick update.
My DD came to town this weekend to meet her nephew, it was so sweet seeing both my kids be over the moon with this baby.

He is truly a wonderful baby, and has even started sleeping through the night already. I keep reinforcing with my son how lucky he is, as he himself didn't sleep through the night until he was nearly 9 mos old, and got me up 2 times a night minimum until he was 6 mos old.

He is content relaxed, and sweet little guy. He likes to look around at his surroundings, and gives milk drunk smiles while sleeping all the time.

I love being grandma.
