A mental health question......

I am hoping I won't need this answer by the time it gets answered.

If a person is on a 72 hour mental health hold at a hospital, are they allowed to have their cell phones?

My adult daughter is missing. Has mental health issues. Untreated. The last place anyone knew where she was, was an ER this morning.

She won't answer her phone or text anyone. I know she is upset with me (again....I am the target of much of her rage). But, she has not responded to anyone. She has no car. I don't think she has any money for a bus or anything.

I am so hoping she is on a hold. And, has no access to her phone. She really needs the help. But, also fearful of where she is, what she is doing.

Thank you

As hoped for, I don't need an answer.

Her boyfriend found her. He remembered her info, to get into her medical chart.

She is in the hospital. But, not for a mental health hold.

She is quite sick. She has been totally out of it and sleeping all day. It said in her chart she was extremely lethargic.

Test results showed something that they will test again tomorrow. Can't remember what he called it.

He said it sounds like some of her mental health issues are probably caused by this. Confusion, outbursts, etc.. Apparently, she was asking who called 911. She called for herself.

This might explain why she has these horrible verbal attacks on me....and, then a couple days later, if we talk again, it's like it never happened. It's like she doesn't remember it happening.

Hopefully, they can get this under control. The poor kid has been miserable, and making life miserable for all around her for a long time.

The boyfriend had called the hospital earlier, as he is her emergency contact. He was told she had told them not to talk to him....another totally irrational thing from her

I'm so sorry you're going through this, betsy. I'm glad you found her.

Just for future reference typically if you are on a mandated hold they will take your phone.
They may allow you to make a call if witnessed by staff.

I hope they can figure out what's up, so that you can work w/ your dtr to resolve her anger once she gets better.
